My friend recently was doing some garden work and thereby using an old wheelbarrow that she filled with potting soil. After filling it up and starting to push it a very annoying and squeaking noise was made by the wheel. It surely needed some lubrication. But on the one hand she didn’t have lubricant and on the other hand, as she admitted to me, it is the kind of maintenance she would have preferred to be done by a man – who wasn’t part of her life right now. So she thought to herself: „It would be nice if my neighbor would come over to help me out. But I don’t want to bother him with it.“ She pushed the wheelbarrow across her garden, emptied it and pushed it back to her house.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their waited already her neighbor, holding in his hand a can of lubricant, saying: „You know, I actually don’t want to embarrass you by offering you my help – I am convinced that you would do it by yourself soon. But my ears can’t wait any longer and so I ask you for the favor of allowing me to lubricate the wheel of your wheelbarrow!“<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eine Freundin von mir war k\u00fcrzlich mit Gartenarbeit besch\u00e4ftigt und bef\u00fcllte dazu eine alte Scheibtruhe mit Erde. Als sie danach begann die Scheibtruhe zu schieben, machte diese ein extrem lautes, nerviges Quietschger\u00e4usch. Es war eindeutig, dass das Rad dringend Schmierung brauchte. Doch einerseits hatte sie kein \u00d6l zu Hause und andererseits, wie sie mir gegen\u00fcber zugab, w\u00e4re es ihr lieber gewesen diese Art von T\u00e4tigkeit von einem Mann machen zu lassen – welcher aber gerade nicht Teil ihres Lebens war. Somit dachte sie sich: „Eigentlich w\u00e4re es nett, wenn mein Nachbar das \u00fcbernehmen w\u00fcrde. Doch ich m\u00f6chte ihn damit nicht bel\u00e4stigen.“ Sie schob die Scheibtruhe an’s andere Ende des Gartens, leerte sie aus und fuhr mit ihr wieder zur\u00fcck zum Haus.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dort wartete bereits ihr Nachbar mit einer Kanne \u00d6l in seiner Hand und sagte: „Wissen Sie, ich m\u00f6chte Sie ja nicht in Verlegenheit bringen indem ich Ihnen meine Hilfe anbiete – ich bin mir sicher, Sie w\u00e4ren bald von selbst aktiv geworden. Aber meine Ohren k\u00f6nnen nicht l\u00e4nger warten und daher frage ich Sie, ob Sie mir wohl erlauben w\u00fcrden, das Rad Ihrer Scheibtruhe zu schmieren?“<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
